Ultimately, while changing heroes on joining does give more player control over the hero they get, it is the only positive I really see with it while having the negatives of needing to be done every game, slowing the game down even more especially if the person really wants to make them look good, removing some challenge/ experimenting if we can change even their race and tech. Then I also see an issue with customising them in game is during multiplayer as an additional activity that takes up time that could end up making people wait depending on how much we can do with it. If it does let us change even that it also removes a bit of the random factor of working with what you can get cause we can always know yes my first hero can always be a Celestian hero or what have you. While letting us change heroes we get after joining is nice, it would also be a pain doing it every time and if it doesn't let us change everything (race and tech as well) then it doesn't really let us make our own heroes unless we spend turn after turn fishing for that race/tech combo we want for our custom hero. While the Hero Dev Diary did hint at it with "Every hero belongs to one of the six base races and has an associated secret technology proficiency providing them additional upgrade abilities." the real confirmation was during the 24 hour stream, while there wasn't really much new information from it, we did see they recruited a Celestian hero while playing Promethean Vanguard.

Disliking Sadie Adler from RDR2 means you are human garbage -kainzow42 If you dislike a game I like, your opinion is ignorant and disingenuous -LordPoncho.

We actually do know that they have their own secret tech. Seems to be something to do with 'Leader Selection' in the setup but te gamedoesn't explain exactly what each option means.
